Dear Ohio Member:
ACA and OCA need your help to fight against cuts that would impact Early Childhood Mental Health Counselors and Consultation!

The Governor originally allocated five million dollars each year for Early Childhood Mental Health Counselors and Consultation in his budget, for fiscal year 2016 and 2017. The Governor also added some important provisions for the school counseling profession, which included:

 1.     Charging the Education Standards Committee to develop standards for school counselors
2.      Charging the State Board of Education to develop a model for school counselor evaluation
3.      Allocating up to $1 million per year for training on best practices for career counseling for   school counselors.

However, the House Finance Committee removed those provisions and the five million dollar budget was cut in half!

The next step in the process is for this piece of legislation is for it to be heard in Senate committee hearings.

We need all of you to contact your State Senator today and ask them to support the Governor's original proposal and budget!
Tell your Senator that these provisions along with the money are essential to funding Early Childhood Mental Health Counselors and Consultation.  These programs and services are instrumental to shaping the future of Ohio's next leaders.
