Thanks, Satinder November 21, 2014 The University of Iowa College of Education Department of Rehabilitation and Counselor Education Assistant Professor in Counselor Education Program Position The Department of Rehabilitation and Counselor Education at the University of Iowa invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position to begin August 2015 at the rank of Assistant Professor in the newly re-configured Counselor Education graduate programs, that includes both doctoral Counselor Education and Supervision, and Rehabilitation Counselor Education sub-specialty Programs, as well as the Master’s programs in School Counseling and Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. The program has strong department, college, university, and clinical community support, and is committed to an environment that values diversity and collegiality. It includes an innovative signature focus on a departmental clinic that includes an emphasis on special populations and their cultural contexts across the two areas of graduate subspecialty programs in Counselor Education and Supervision, and Rehabilitation Counselor Education plus the Couple and Family Therapy subspecialty program. This clinic will allow for advanced clinical training, multidisciplinary applied clinical research, and clinical supervision training. Education Requirement By August 2015, prospective candidates must have earned a doctorate * in Counseling or Counselor Education and Supervision from a Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Professions (CACREP) accredited program OR * if doctorate is in Counseling or a closely related field that is not CACREP accredited, then candidate must also have had employment as a full-time faculty member in a Counselor Education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013. Required Qualifications * concentration or specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Counselor Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, or School Counseling * evidence of potential for scholarly productivity, including publications in recognized counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or related journals * experience in teaching undergraduate/graduate courses and supervising practica/internships * potential for attracting external funds * demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively and with diverse populations * eligibility for Iowa Mental Health Counselor licensure and/or Iowa School Counseling certification * commitment to developing and teaching online courses Desirable Qualifications * experience teaching in a CACREP accredited or CORE graduate program * experience in the practice of clinical mental health counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or school counseling * experience in obtaining and administering grants * experience teaching and/or designing online instruction * experience with applied clinical research Responsibilities Duties will include: * being a core faculty member in the Counselor Education master’s and doctoral graduate programs * designing and teaching courses in the doctoral and master’s programs in the Counselor Education and Supervision, and Rehabilitation Counselor Education sub-specialty programs including online teaching, and related areas consistent with the candidate’s interests and department needs * developing a program of research and publication in an area of specialization * seeking external funds for research and service * teaching, advising, and supervising practica/internships of students in Counselor Education and Supervision, and Rehabilitation Counselor Education sub-specialty programs at the master’s and doctoral levels * advising doctoral and master’s program students in the Counselor Education and Supervision, and Rehabilitation Counselor Education sub-specialty programs * supervising doctoral students’ dissertations Salary Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
