Job Description: The Department of Interdisciplinary Professions in the College of Education is seeking a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty member effective starting with the 2016-17 academic year in the area of Counselor Education.

The Counselor Education program at East Carolina University seeks an assistant level faculty member with a professional specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The responsibilities of this position will include teaching various graduate-level courses in Counselor Education, the potential supervision of practicum and internship experiences, maintaining robust scholarly productivity, and collaborating with faculty colleagues on curriculum revision and development.

The MS in Counselor Education at East Carolina University includes CACREP accredited programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling and Student Affairs and College Counseling. Faculty members teach across all three programs, and this position specifically will be working in the area of Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

East Carolina University is a growing university with opportunities for online and campus-based teaching. Cohorts are utilized by the program to serve regions outside of the main campus, with all faculty members involved in the delivery of courses for the cohorts. In addition, faculty is expected to teach both online and face-to-face courses. Some practicum and/or internship courses may require clinical supervision.

Regional transformation through service, teaching and scholarship is a critical focus for the university and Counselor Education programs.

Applicants with a commitment to service to the university, community and profession and/or a history of community engagement are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. or Ed.D degree in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program.
  2. Licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in North Carolina or eligible for licensure in NC.
  3. Demonstrated potential for research and scholarship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Certified as a National Certified Counselor (NCC).
  2. Online teaching experience in graduate courses in Counselor Education.
  3. Experience with clinical supervision.
  4. Experience pursuing funding for research and scholarly activities.
  5. Experience teaching and/or managing graduate level counselor education students in a cohort model.
  6. Demonstrated history of community engagement.

Special Instructions to Apply: East Carolina University requires applicants submit a candidate profile online in order to be considered for the position. Candidate must also submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae/resume, and list of references, including contact information, online. Official copies of all transcripts should be mailed to Dr. Patrick Mullen, Department of Interdisciplinary Professions, East Carolina University, Ragsdale Bldg--Mailstop 121, 1000 E. 5th Street, Greenville, NC 27858-4353.
