This interactive theater group works to promote dialogue and social change in communities, and we're excited to bring them to campus this year. In their performances, TheaterDelta actors assume the roles of students and faculty to act out scenarios common in academia. After the short performance, audience members have an opportunity to ask the 'characters' questions to learn more about the events being portrayed, and then engage in discussion with other audience members and director Ben Saypol to further their understanding of the topics being addressed. TheaterDelta has recently performed at West Virginia University, the University of Georgia, and the University of Chicago, among others. They will perform two shows at OU: Monday, November 2: Pro-Action, focusing on the graduate student-faculty mentor relationship. Such topics as proactive communication, receiving critical feedback, and time management will be addressed. Tuesday, November 3: Dilemmas, focusing on research ethics and academic integrity. Topics including plagiarism, unauthorized collaboration, and data fabrication will be addressed. Both performances will be held in Glidden Recital Hall 5:15-6:45 pm; light refreshments will be provided. All students and faculty are welcome and encouraged to attend one of both of these free performances. If you teach a graduate seminar, we encourage you to bring your entire class to one or both performances; these are important topics to take back and discuss in more detail with your group. Please also feel free to forward this email and/or attachment to anyone you work with that may be interested in this event. To RSVP, or if you have questions about the event, please email at helfrich at ohio.edu <mailto: helfrich at ohio.edu >. Thanks, Sara This event is sponsored by Ohio University's Graduate College, College of Arts and Sciences, Patton College of Education, and College of Health Sciences and Professions; special thanks to the School of Music for donating their space for this performance.
