Hello Students,

I hope you are having a great summer.  I am writing to notify you of a four hour Educational Studies/Administration Doctoral Research Seminar that I will be offering again this fall.  The class will facilitate you making progress toward graduation.  The course is designed to assist students throughout the dissertation phase of the Doctoral process. The details are as follows:

Dissertation Preparation & Research Seminar
Educational Administration Research Seminar
EDAD 8901 - 100, class # 2493, fall, 2016
4 credit hours - Dr. Robinson

Course Description: EDAD 8901-Dissertation Preparation & Research Seminar.
The course is described as follows:
This research course is designed to facilitate doctoral student preparation for the next phase of their doctoral and dissertation work.   The course will help students move forward on their trajectory toward graduation. Students will be exposed to research skills appropriate to where they are in their dissertation work.   Potential topics will include:
*       Organizing the Dissertation Process
*       Planning and Preparing for Comprehensive Examinations
*       Dissertation proposal development - Chapter 1, 2, 3
*       Understanding the IRB Process
*       Academic Writing
*       Writing Originality
*       Literature Review Development
*       Data Collection Support
*       Coding and Data Analysis
*       Development of Findings
*       Conclusions and Implications
*       The development of and packaging of the final dissertation

Students will be grouped according to their stage in the dissertation process and relevant strategies and tips will be shared for doctoral students at each juncture.  The class will be organized into small groups of similarly situated doctoral students to support workshop components for the class.  Each student will develop personal goals for course completion.

Class Dates:
Class meets on one Saturday per month.  Class dates are 8/27, 9/17, 10/22 and 11/19 from    9am - 4:30/5pm.  There will possibly be a special offering one Friday evening depending on the availability of several speakers); If so it would probably be 10/22 or 11/18. I will let you know.

Permission is required for registration and space is limited.  Students who are interested should notify Dr. Robinson at robinsd3 at ohio.edu
