It is an opportunity to gain an internationalperspective while enjoying the camaraderie with colleagues and students oncounseling and higher education. Counselor educators, staff, higher educationprofessionals and students from other universities are welcome. Counselor educators or doctoral students whowish to make an international presentation on a cultural issues at the Italy Instituteare asked to submit a brief proposal outline detailing the topic to Dr. MonaRobinson at robinsoh at ohio.edu. Please share thisopportunity with students of counseling or other majors as the course will meetthe requirements for many cross cultural courses at the undergraduate andgraduate level. Part of which will consist on an online dimension beginning priorto departure and will continue through the trip and through the end of thesummer. For information on application, costs, and otherdetails, go to OU Office of GlobalOpportunities and select Italy Institute under Summer 2016. Faculty and practitioners should follow thedirections on that website to "apply" as a non-OU student. The intention is to broaden participants'awareness of social diversity, counseling, higher education, and culturalconflict issues in a non-American setting and to share a travel abroadadventure with friendly colleagues in a semi-structured environment. This is the chance forcurrent and future counselors to see what counseling, higher education, andhuman services work is like in a European country while enjoying trips tohistoric Italian cities as well as living in the historic 14thcentury villa, Casa Cares in Tuscany, Italy. We will reflect on parallels anddifferences between American and Italian cultures and counseling and highereducation approaches.
