The School of Counseling at The University of Akron is please to seek applicants for two full-time Assistant Professor of Counseling Instruction faculty positions beginning Fall 2017 semester:



(1) Counselor Education & Supervision Doctoral Program - Counselor Education Track/School Counseling Master's Program (Job #9839)



(2) Counselor Education & Supervision Doctoral Program - Counselor Education Track/Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master's Program (Job #9838)


(1) Counselor Education & Supervision Doctoral Program - Counselor Education Track/School Counseling Master's Program (Job #9839)

The primary purpose of this position is to teach coursework and provide instructional support and service in the School of Counseling CACREP-accredited Counselor Education and Supervision Doctoral Program - Counselor Education track, and as needed in the School Counseling Master's Program.

Required minimum qualifications include: (1) Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program; (2) Experience working with counseling graduate students in instruction, supervision, and/or mentoring activities.

Preferred qualifications include: (1) Involvement in or affiliation with counseling-related organizations; (2) Successful use of technology in classroom instruction; (3) Specialty knowledge and/or skills working with children and adolescents, for example a certificate in related skills, or a master's degree in school counseling or licensure/certification in school counseling, or professional expertise working with children and adolescents.


(2) Counselor Education & Supervision Doctoral Program - Counselor Education Track/Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master's Program (Job #9838)

The primary purpose of this position is to teach coursework and provide instructional support and service in the School of Counseling CACREP-accredited Counselor Education and Supervision Doctoral Program - Counselor Education track, and as needed in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master's Program.

Required minimum qualifications include: (1) Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program; (2) Experience working with counseling graduate students in instruction, supervision, and/or mentoring activities; (3) Eligibility for or currently holds an Ohio Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor credential.

Preferred qualifications include: (1) Involvement in or affiliation with counseling-related organizations; (2) Successful use of technology in classroom instruction.


Application Materials:

For each separate position the following minimum application materials are required: Cover letter of interest describing qualifications for position; complete and current curriculum vitae; evidence of effective graduate-level instruction (e.g., student evaluations, example syllabi, academic colleague evaluations); names and contact information for three professional references. ABD will be considered but a Ph.D. must be conferred prior to the position start date (follow-up confirmation from the dissertation chairperson stating that the dissertation defense has been scheduled may be required).
