From: OCA Listserve [mailto: OCA-L at LISTSERV.KENT.EDU ] On Behalf Of Feisthamel, Kevin P. Sent: Monday, January 2, 2017 11:19 AM To: OCA-L at LISTSERV.KENT.EDU Subject: Counseling Internship at Hiram College Mental Health Counseling Graduate Students, Hiram College is pleased to announce an exciting internship for mental health counseling graduate students. Hiram College is currently accepting applications for one Doctoral or one Master's-level intern to work in the Counseling, Health and Disability Services Center beginning August 2017 to May 2018. The emphasis for this internship is on developing the student's clinical skills and familiarizing them with working in a college counseling center. The Counseling, Health and Disability Services Center provides free, confidential, short-term counseling to students currently enrolled at Hiram College. We also offer groups, workshops, and community events to students, faculty, staff, and the Hiram community. Interns are expected to spend 20-25 hours per week at the Counseling Center providing individual counseling, group counseling, and counseling assessments, attend required staff meetings, and receive individual supervision. This counseling internship is 'unique' because of the ample opportunities that are possible. For example, the intern may be able to create programs/workshops for the campus community, develop therapeutic groups, assist with grant writing, provide presentations for the college and/or national, state or local counseling conferences, write manuscripts for potential publication, and participate in college events. Founded in 1850, Hiram College cherishes its heritage as an institution of academic excellence and rare distinction. Hiram's 1,100 students come from 26 states and 23 countries and represent more than 25 different religions. Between 50 and 60 percent of the College's graduates go on to graduate school or professional school within five years of earning their degrees. The College was awarded a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's premier undergraduate honor society in 1971. Feel free to contact Dr. Kevin P.
