The students are in grades 9-12 and are at risk of dropping out of high school. Schnee has been the #1 Credit Recovery educational organization in the state of Ohio for the past 4 years, and is sponsored by the Cuyahoga Falls City School District. The school counselor will be the only counselor at Schnee Learning Center and is primarily responsible for scheduling students, maintaining student transcripts, assisting students in post high school planning, and counseling students. She/He and will work in collaboration with the testing coordinator to order, plan, organize and administer State of Ohio testing and MAP testing. The school counselor needs to have a desire to work with students who are working toward credit recovery and who are at risk of dropping out of high school. A good candidate will need to be experienced in working with students who are in crisis and well versed in the mental health of adolescents. This position will also be responsible blocks of classroom teaching. You must be intrinsically motivated and passionate about working with students who need credit recovery and are at risk of dropping out of high school. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for everything and anything else that may impact our educational program positively or adversely. You must bring high level enthusiasm, energy, and passion for "at-risk" youth; be extremely patient; willing to learn and work diligently at motivating and inspiring others to be successful in life and in education. Required Qualifications: Current Ohio School Counselor License. Minimum 3 years School Counseling or Teaching experience. Competence in Ohio school law as applied to counseling. An excellent communicator. Strong desire to revolutionize education through: personalization, relationships, collaboration, program innovation, and EXTREMELY high expectations and educational standards. Relentless motivator. Ability to identify, consistently pursue, and demand high expectations for yourself, your colleagues and our learners. Makes no excuses for why students don't succeed, and when adversity is identified, tirelessly solves problems collaboratively. Innovative and creative thinker, willing to take risks for student success. Preferred Qualifications: 1-3 years of experience and success working with At-risk youth. Experience with: Master Scheduling - Ohio Standardized Test Coordination 9-12 - Organizing character programing - Career advising and job placement - ACT preparation - College Placement - Planning, implementing, and collecting data on multiple learner groups designed for MTSS (RtI) - Title I - DASL - Edmentum Learning -Conducting professional development.
