Dr. Bhat From: Hutchinson, Theodore Sent: Thursday, April 19, 2018 3:34 PM Subject: for Health Care Providers! Importance: High Greetings Counselor Education faculty, Below you will find a link to an important and exciting opportunity for you, your colleagues, students and community-based health care professionals for a day-long workshop entitled "Rural Voices: Caring for Trans & Gender Diverse Communities". This workshop is sponsored by HCOM, Equitas Health and OUs LGBT Center. It is focused on issues for health care professionals (including mental health) who serve in a rural area. If you take a look through the schedule (click on each link) you will see the many topics that are relevant to all in various health care fields. Please share widely because educating health care providers about trans and GNC people is critically important in supporting trans and GNC people in this region where there are few services to begin with, and even fewer providers who have been educated on providing services to transgender patients and clients. Lives depend upon it. In the largest recent national survey of trans and GNC identifying people, one of the largest concerns has been with inadequate and/or abusive health care situations.
