We have 21 district offices statewide that will meet all your needs in finding the perfect job for you! Starting Salaries: VRC Intern: $19.42/hr. With full Commonwealth Benefits Eligibility for interns: Meet the minimum experience and training required for the job: VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION COUNSELOR INTERN: Current enrollment in the final year of a master's degree program in vocational rehabilitation counseling, rehabilitation education, or rehabilitation administration. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Authorization by the college or university for the student to participate in the Commonwealth's Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Intern Program. Upon entering the internship, the student must be enrolled in the final semester of the appropriate master's degree program. Pennsylvania residency requirement waived. Be eligible for selection in accordance with Civil Service rules. This eliminates applicants navigating two different websites and maintaining two online accounts. * Candidates will be instructed to create a job seeker profile on www.employment.pa.gov< http://www.employment.pa.gov > . Once created, they will need to upload pertinent documentation such as: resumes/curriculum vitae, cover letter, unofficial/official transcripts, DD214 for veteran verification, or etc. (If candidates are having difficulty in navigating the SCSC website, please refer them to the Recruitment Specialist). * Once employment eligibility is determined, candidates will receive (via email) a test score based off the minimum education and training (METs) requirements as stated above. * Candidates will be notified via email of a specific vacancy posting (or district office posting) rather than a general job title. (Please see attached). * Candidates must apply to each district office vacancy posting of their choice, to be consider for an interview, if applicable. * There is a 15-day window to apply for a specific vacancy posting. * Candidates are responsible to keep track of the vacancy posting for the district office(s) of their choice, which is the Commonwealth of PA Job Opportunities link located on the website on the left side. Candidates must be logged in to view this. * If the district office of their choice is not posted, please contact the Recruitment Specialist. * Intern Supplemental Forms will be given if interns receive a conditional job offer. Continued Process: * It will take 2 to 3 weeks to receive your eligibility determination. * There is no written test for PA OVR positions, except for clerical positions. * Once postings for those positions come down and the districts administrators pull their list, you will receive another correspondence called an availability survey (these surveys will ask if you would like to schedule a phone or in-person interview * If you receive a conditional offer of employment, then you will receive ANOTHER correspondence from HR via email regarding your FBI, child abuse and criminal background clearances. This is paid for by the state. I strongly encourage you to be diligent and responsible in getting this completed, for it is very critical regarding employment.
