Greetings:

On behalf of the National Council on Rehabilitation Education (NCRE), I am excited to invite you to the 20th Annual National Rehabilitation Educators Conference to be held on Monday, April 6 – Wednesday, April 8, 2020 in San Diego, CA.

The purpose of the National Council on Rehabilitation Education (NCRE) is to promote the improvement of rehabilitation services available to people with disabilities through quality education and research.

The conference supports this purpose by this year’s conference theme: “The Best Way to Predict the Future is to Create It! “

Let us EMBRACE our DIVERSITY and FIND UNITY in our COMMON PURPOSE!

We are celebrating 100 years of State/Federal Vocational Rehabilitation! We have a rich history and great strengths - the future is ours to determine! If we are passive, our future will be determined for us by entities external to our profession. The Best Way to Predict the Future is to Create It! It is time to unite/re-align with common vision and renewed energy to best serve our constituents - people with disabilities.

Conference Tracks:
1.Future Directions – Future Populations, Future Practices
2.Global Rehabilitation: Current, New, and Promising Practices and Relationships
3.Health and Function and Psychosocial Coping
4.Participation
5.Poverty, Homelessness, Immigration and Rehabilitation Counseling
6.Rehabilitation Counselor Education
7.Rehabilitation Public Policy and Legislation
8.Social Advocacy and Multicultural Competency Training Approaches
9.Socio-Political Advocacy

NCRE seeks to enrich and broaden the content for the conference by featuring the following presentation formats:
•Concurrent Presentation Proposal
•Seminar Presentation Proposal
•Professional Scientific Poster Presentation Proposal
•Student Scientific Poster Presentation Proposal (Undergraduate, Graduate and Doctoral Students will review this Call for Proposals and submit proposal through this online form).

Dr. William “Bill” Downey Scientific Poster Presentation Award Fund
Dr. Bill Downey was a Professor in the Rehabilitation Counseling in the Department of Disability and Psychoeducational Studies at The University of Arizona – the very same department where he completed his PhD in 1979. Bill dedicated his life to the field of rehabilitation counseling and provided his expertise and passion in various capacities for over 35 years. Inspired by his commitment to recognize research by students, NCRE established the Dr. William “Bill” Downey Scientific Poster Presentation Award to annually support students to attend the NCRE training conference to interact with rehabilitation educators and professionals.

The Lead Review Team will select the top 3 Scientific Poster Proposals submitted by a Student Member of NCRE for the July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020 year to be considered for the Award. More details on eligibility, requirements, selection process, and the awards can be found in the STUDENT SCIENTIFIC CFP.
