Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Ohio University is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs. Ohio University is recruiting participants for a Cultural Institute Study Abroad program May 3-16, 2020 in Tuscany and Rome, Italy. Please note that May 3rd and May 16th are travel days. The program focuses on cultural issues in counseling and higher education. The Institute is a dynamic introduction to counseling in Italy, as well as a 12-day adventure in a European country with much to see and do. It is an opportunity to gain an international perspective while enjoying the camaraderie with colleagues and students in counseling and higher education. Counselor educators, staff, higher education professionals and students (graduate and undergraduate) from other universities are welcome! The intention is to broaden participants' awareness of social diversity, counseling, higher education, and cultural conflict issues in a non-American setting and to share a travel abroad adventure with friendly colleagues in a semi-structured environment. Additionally, counseling and higher education professionals have the opportunity to present a 60- or 90-minute education session. Electronic proposals are accepted via Qualtrics ( https://ohio.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cO892RJyzoQ1m6h ) and due by February 7th (deadline extended). Notification of decisions on proposals will be communicated by February 15th. This is the chance for current and future counselors to see what counseling, education, and human services look like in a European country while enjoying trips to historic Italian cities as well as living in the historic 14th century villa, Casa Cares in Tuscany, Italy. During the last part of the program, attendees will stay at Casa Valdese Hotel in Rome where we will visit Rome’s historic sites. We will reflect on parallels and differences between American and Italian cultures and counseling and higher education approaches. Please see the attached flyer and program website ( https://www.ohio.edu/goglobal/programs/italy-counseling-higher-ed ) for more details. Interested participants must apply online by February 15, 2020. Drs. Robinson and Erby are hosting a virtual information session Monday, February 3rd at 3:00pm EST to share more information about the program experience, cost, and application process. The virtual format via Zoom (see below for log-on information) allows you to join from your computer or phone from any location, so please join us to learn more about the program.
