My name is Nouna Jalilzadeh. I am a licensed mental health counselor and a doctoral candidate at the Pace University, Pleasantville Campus, NY. (IRB #1896873). I invite you to participate in my research study titled "Becoming A Mental Health Counselor, Permanently or Temporarily: Examining Potential Barriers for International Students Enrolled In Mental Health Counseling Master's Program." through a semi-structured interview under the supervision of the dissertation chairperson and advisor, Dr. Joe Franco. This dissertation study is about exploring the lived experience of international students enrolled in mental health counseling master's programs. To participate, you must (1) be 18 years of age or older, (2) identify as an international mental health counseling master's holding a nonimmigrant F-1 Student visa (3) be or identify as a part of an underrepresented culture, ethnic, or racial group within a counseling program in the U.S. You are invited to participate in two semi-structured interviews. Interviews will take approximately 60 minutes to complete. Your participation will contribute to multicultural competency and create change for international students enrolled in mental health counseling programs. Results will be made available via publication in a peer-reviewed journal(s) in counseling and/or psychology, conceptual pieces, non-academic papers, and presented at local, state, national, and/or regional conferences.
