Langston University POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor in Rehabilitation Counseling (Tenure-Track) NATURE OF JOB: CACREP-accredited Rehabilitation Counseling Program seeks a new Assistant Professor in the Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling (MRC) Program at Langston University. Duties for this twelve-month, tenure-track position will include teaching graduate courses in rehabilitation counseling, including practicum and/or internship courses, academic advisement of students, research and professional and community service. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: An earned doctorate in rehabilitation education or a closely related field from a CACREP counselor education program, graduate level teaching experience, potential to develop a scholarly line of research/publications, potential for successful grant writing, and experience in direct delivery of vocational rehabilitation services. The successful applicant will be a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or CRC eligible, and a Licensed Professional Counselor or LPC eligible. Desired: Experience in leading federally-funded applied research projects, post-doctoral training in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, and advanced training or experience in qualitative (e.g., NVivo) and quantitative data analysis (i.e., SPSS) is desired. Program Description Program and Department DESCRIPTION: The Graduate Program in Rehabilitation Counseling is housed within the Langston University Department of Rehabilitation and Disability Studies (DRDS), which is situated within the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences. This Program is designed to meet the growing demand for qualified, professionally trained rehabilitation counselors and licensed professional counselors (LPC) who want to work in public and private rehabilitation and/or mental health service agencies and institutions. The DRCDS is comprised of eight (8) faculty members, all with the certified rehabilitation counselor (CRC) credential, whose expertise and research interests span the field of rehabilitation, counseling and disability. The Department houses four (4) different NIDILRR funded national centers and post-doctoral training initiatives that conduct a programmatic line of research and research capacity building aimed at eradicating rehabilitation disparities: (1) RRTC on Research and Capacity Building for Minority Entities (five-year $4.375 million), (2) RRTC on Advancing Employment Equity for Multiply Marginalized Persons with Disabilities (five-year $4.666 million), (3) ARRT Solutions-Focused Translational Research to Enhance Equity in Employment Outcomes and Experiences among Multiply Marginalized Persons of Color with Disabilities (five-year $2 million), and (4) ARRT Solutions-Focused Translational Research to Improve Employment Outcomes and Experiences among Individuals with Disabilities from Traditionally Underserved Racial and Ethnic Populations (five-year $750,000).These NIDILRR grants also provide funding support for tuition and stipend to select students/fellows, up and coming early career- researchers in an effort to develop their research skills.
