The 2011 conference supports this purpose by focusing on Emerging Populations in Rehabilitation Counseling Education: Responding to the Challenge. This Call for Proposals is an opportunity for rehabilitation educators, trainers, researchers, and HRD personnel to submit proposals that address state of the art practices and future directions in rehabilitation education and research. The theme of this year�s conference is intentionally broad to encourage proposals focusing on any aspect of rehabilitation education and research. Both empirically based (qualitative and quantitative) and conceptually oriented proposals are invited. The following are the areas of focus: Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF) veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury and/or PTSD, veteran/military funding opportunities, families of veterans, and veteran suicide and prevention. Autistic spectrum disorder Immigrant consumers with disabilities Consumers from minority racial/ethnic backgrounds Consumer-based participatory research International students in rehabilitation counseling education International teaching and research collaborations Telehealth and other emerging technologies Ethics and technology in rehabilitation counseling We encourage submissions from the entire continuum of rehabilitation education including graduate, undergraduate and continuing education. Proposal Process Proposals will be submitted using the NCRE online submission form. Each proposal must provide the following information: Title- Please limit the title to 80 characters or less. Longer titles will be edited. The title of the paper must be concise and descriptive. It must accurately describe the content of the paper. We appreciate your adherence to the submission procedures by not using all capitals in your title. Abstract- Please limit the abstract to 500 characters or less, including spaces and punctuation. The abstract should include the basic content of the proposed session, the method for information delivery, and the source of the information. If the presentation is selected, this abstract will be printed in the conference program. Content Description Empirical: Please limit your content description to 2000 characters or less, including punctuation. If your proposal is for an empirical presentation, please include the following sections: (1) Purpose, (2) Methods, (3) Results - Research & Clinical, (4) Conclusions, (5) Implications - Research & Practice. Conceptual: If your proposal is for a conceptual presentation, please include the following sections: (1) Purpose, (2) Relevant Literature, (3) Conclusions, and (4) Implications�Research & Practice. Type of Presentations Lecture A presentation in which research, theories, findings, critical information, background, and/or history are conveyed to the audience. Demonstration A presentation of processes, examples, devices, software, and/or products is shared with the audience. Panel Discussion A discussion, of no less than 3 speakers, of a topic of public interest in front of an audience, with whom the speakers may interact. Poster The poster showcase provides a forum for professionals and students to share their best practices and/or research in a poster-format. Format: Concurrent Presentation (60 minutes) Poster Presentation (90 minutes) Main Presenter's Name, Professional Credentials, Email Address, Phone Number, Mailing Address, and Professional Affiliation. The main presenter will be the point of contact for all Call for Proposals-related correspondence and is responsible for disseminating this correspondence to co-presenters. Co-Presenter(s) Name(s), Professional Credential(s), and Professional Affiliation(s) Review Schedule Proposals must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm (EST) Friday, November 30, 2010. Early submission is appreciated. Notification Schedule and Important Deadline Dates Our goal is to inform the main contact person listed on your proposal of the Conference Program Referees� decision to accept your proposal by email no later than Friday, January 14, 2011. Deadline date for presenters who have been accepted to notify NCRE of their decision to agree to present is no later than Friday, January 21, 2011. Presenter and any co presenters who are planning to attend have until Tuesday, February 1, 2011 to register for the conference. Confirmation of date and time of presentation will be sent only after proof of registration for presenter and co-presenters attending the conference are complete. Concurrent Session presentations are 60 minutes in length and are scheduled during the main conference on Thursday, April 7, 2011 and Friday, April 8, 2011. Poster Presentations are 90 minutes in length and scheduled for Wednesday, April 6, 2011 and Thursday, April 7, 2011. By submitting a paper for consideration, speakers agree that their presentation may be scheduled at any time, on any of these days, at the discretion of the NCRE conference planner. Availability of Presenter Submission of this proposal is an acknowledgment that presenter and co-presenters all agree to: Be available to present the program on any day of the conference. Not charge a separate fee for attending your session. Pay the registration fee to attend the Conference. Present at no more than 2 one-hour sessions. Additional poster submissions are welcome. Make presentation materials and activities accessible to participants with disabilities. Audiovisual Equipment NCRE will provide an overhead projector and screen to concurrent session presenters at no cost. Computers/Laptops and LCD projectors will not be provided and are the responsibility of the presenters if required. If you require any other additional equipment, NCRE will provide you with appropriate contact information so you can order the equipment at your own expense through Marriott Manhattan Beach Hotel. Requests for information to obtain additional equipment should be made to conference@rehabeducators.org by no later than Tuesday, March 1, 2011.
