<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman"">The Curry School of Education, Department of Human Services
at the University of Virginia, invites applications for an open position in the
area of School Counseling, with an assignment to the academic program in
Counselor Education, the School Counseling track, with tenure eligibility.
Position rank, at Associate Professor or Professor will be determined upon the qualifications
of the selected incumbent. This position will begin on August 25, 2012.
Successful applicants must have a demonstrated record of scholarship in
top-tier journals and a record of securing external funding through roles as
either a Principal Investigator or a senior collaborator (e.g., co-PI,
methodologist). Applicants must also have a strong interest and requisite
skills in teaching and advising students in School Counseling. The successful
candidate must have an earned doctorate in Counselor Education with appropriate
School Counseling credentials and experience. Candidates must also have the
appropriate background to serve as full-time faculty in a CACREP-accredited
program in School Counseling with appropriate School Counseling expertise,
experience, and skills for a supervisory role. In addition, the candidate is
expected to have an interest in and commitment to: (a) building collaborative
partnerships with area schools, community colleges and agencies serving
children and youth, (b) efficient, effective, and comprehensive school
counseling programs for children and youth, focusing on career, academic, and
personal/social development, and (c) evidence-based methods for successful services
for children and youth in school settings. Candidates must demonstrate an
explicit commitment to, and accomplishments in, teaching, research, and/or
service that contribute to advancing understanding and outcomes for
underrepresented groups. The ideal candidate will have a strong and focused
research agenda in school counseling services/programming, career counseling
across the lifespan, evidence-based methods of addressing career, academic,
personal, and social development in school setting, and/or counseling
supervision. The candidate must have knowledge and experience with the ASCA National
Model and implementing career-related programming in K12 schools. Candidates
will be expected to:</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman"">1. Spend approximately 33% time on research and scholarship,
while demonstrating an</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman"">ongoing commitment to teaching</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman"">2. Publish (in press or in print) at an appropriate rate for
rank in counseling journals</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman"">3. Maintain a track record of external grant funding</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman"">4. Develop and/or maintain a national reputation in a
specific area of scholarly interest.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman"">5. Participate in interdisciplinary projects and research
on-grounds, in the community, and at the state and national level.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman"">6. Teach courses within the Counselor Education Program and
maintain better than average student evaluations for teaching and supervision</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman"">7. Address diversity and advocacy through scholarship,
teaching, and service</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman"">8. Maintain an appropriate level of service to the program,
the Curry School, and to the</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman"">counseling profession, as appropriate for rank.</span></p>
