Department at Eastern Washington University invites applications for a
tenure track faculty position in the Counselor Education Program to
begin September 2013.

<br>The Counselor Education Program at Eastern Washington University is
committed to the selection, training, supervision, and professional
success of students in the Master's of Science in Applied Psychology,
School Counseling emphasis, in keeping with the high standards
established by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and
Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The program offers a structured
sequence of curricular and clinical experiences with an emphasis on
closely supervised training experiences both at the University and in
the community. During their training, students contribute over 15,000
hours each year in direct service at community mental health agencies,
local schools, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and community
agencies.

<br>Eastern has a proud history of providing education to a high
percentage of first generation college students, often from
under-represented and lower socioeconomic communities, a tradition which
the Counselor Education program maintains. Thus, counselor training
occurs in a learning community that is intentionally focused on both
skills development and personal growth of the counselor-in-training. In
this way, Counselor Education fulfills its purpose of preparing
competent and caring professional counselors to meet the needs of
diverse urban and rural communities. The selected candidate will join a
committed and enthusiastic counselor education faculty.

<br>This position is expected to:
<br>1) Coordinate the School Counseling emphasis of the Master's
program, which includes but is not limited to Chairing PEAB meetings and
conducting practicum and internship site visits in the surrounding
region.
<br>2) Teaching activities include the following related responsibilities:
<br>a. Typical workload for this position will involve 36 credits per
academic year, subject to Department needs, at both EWU's main campus in
Cheney, WA and Riverpoint campus located nearby in Spokane, WA
<br>b. Teach courses in the CACREP accredited program such as, Professional School Counseling, Law for School Counselors, Practicum and
Internship courses, and/or other courses that fulfill the need of the
Department and Program
<br>c. Although not expected, there may be opportunities for Summer quarter instruction
<br>d. Advising students who are declared majors on Department, College, and University requirements and career opportunities
<br>3. Participate in the leadership of local, state, and regional professional organizations
<br>4. Pursue productive research, scholarship and/or creative
activities, including professional activities leading to publication,
performance, and/or formal presentation in the field
<br>5. Pursue research funding through grant development
<br>6. Mentor student research
<br>7. Collaborate with colleagues in utilization of creativity and
best practice knowledge in curriculum development, classroom
instruction, and student supervision.
