Hello all, I’ve received a report that there is terrapin nesting activity on an island in the Cape Fear River (SE North Carolina). This animal was not a recapture. No eggshells recovered from the site, however, egg follicles found on the road. In situations like these, we generally assume the animal crossed the road, nested successfully, and then was hit when attempting to cross again. If this was a nesting foray, it would be the earliest we’ve documented since monitoring began (dating back to 2007).
