[DU-L] Fwd: Thursday Supper

Brothers,

Below is a message from UCM, also a form of waiver. It explains the nature
of the volunteer work we will be doing tonight, and highlights that prep
work, service, and clean up can be potentially dangerous if you're being
stupid while working. I know none of you would be screwing around on the
job, but we will have PNM's there and they need to be aware of this as
well. Please share this email.

Fraternally Yours,
Matt Eroskey

Hi Matt -
I have your fraternity scheduled to volunteer at Thursday Supper on

have any questions. Thanks!

ATTENTION VOLUNTEERS!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering! Thursday Supper and Saturday
Lunch are weekly free meal programs supported by United Campus Ministry.

THURSDAY SUPPER volunteers come between 3:30pm and 7:30pm or whenever
clean-up is done! Dinner is served at 5:30pm.

SATURDAY LUNCH volunteers come between 11:00am and 3:30pm, or whenever
clean-up is done! Lunch is served at 1:00pm.

Volunteers should understand there is a certain amount of risk involved in
volunteering at UCM's weekly free meals. The potential risks are those
typically associated with food preparation and cooking (cuts, burns, falls,
etc.) As a volunteer, you willingly participate in this service while
understanding those risks. Furthermore, you agree to not hold United
Campus Ministry responsible for any injury incurred while volunteering at
Thursday Supper or Saturday Lunch. Volunteers are encouraged to eat and
mingle with other guests. Service is ALSO about being in community, not
just mopping floors, so get to know the people around you! Have fun
knowing that you are contributing to providing the Athens community with
more than 5,000 nutritious, free meals a year!

UCM's other student organization, Interfaith Impact, meets every Thursday
(while OU is in session) upstairs in the UCM lounge at 7:30pm. You are more
than welcome to join this group discussion after serving at Thursday
Supper. Email Rev. Evan Young < evan at ucmathens.org
> for more information.

As a student organization, Thursday Supper receives some funding for food
from the Ohio University Senate Appropriations Commission. Community Foods
Initiatives and other campus and community groups donate food and volunteer
regularly. These meals are free and open to everyone and are opportunities
for campus and community engagement through service. Athens County has
many low-income people and families who are food insecure (not knowing when
and where their next meal is coming from). UCM is interfaith - we welcome
people of ALL and NO faith traditions. We are committed to social justice
and diversity. We welcome everyone. We do not welcome racism, sexism,
heterosexism, homophobia, classism, or oppressive attitudes toward people
of other religious/philosophical backgrounds or those with physical/mental
illness.

UCM offers many opportunities for students and others to get involved.
