Do you or someone you know want to become an effective advocate for future generations? The Education Public Policy Leadership Certificate (EPPLC)< https://www.ohio.edu/education/epplc >offered in partnership by Ohio University’s Patton College of Education and Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs is the perfect opportunity! This fully online program allows anyone the opportunity to learn how policy works and how to get involved in the process of change. Don’t miss your chance to join our second cohort – Apply by April 30< http://engage.ohio.edu/site/R?i=AOIquy_lBo0K_YwN6NzTlg >! Online coursework begins May 11, 2020. What is the EPPLC? One year of fully online study with caring faculty (who just happen to be policy experts) that culminates with a three-day networking residency in Washington, D.C. that 2019 participants described as “life changing.” The faculty include Program Coordinator Dr. Dwan Robinson, Dr. Marsha Lewis, Dr. Jason Jolley, and Dr. Linda Trautman. No GRE is required and although education policy will be emphasized, the applications for what you learn are limitless. Why should you join the next cohort? Because policy is an incredibly complicated thing. And while elected officials have good intentions while they are creating policies, too often, those policies may treat only the symptoms of a problem the legislators don’t really understand. Our nation’s policy-making agencies desperately need to incorporate the experiences and opinions of educators and others who bring the boots-on-the-ground, hands-on perspective that can help create policy that effects meaningful change for our students. Equipping more people to engage in the policy-making process is the best way to make sure that all voices and perspectives are heard. And that is the goal of the Education Public Policy Leadership Certificate: To make sure your valuable voices are heard in the venues where change is created. There's no GRE required, so anyone can participate! Whether your goal is the school board, city hall, the statehouse, or Capitol Hill, the EPPLC can help you: * Gain understanding of the policy-making process * Learn to develop a strong persuasive argument in support of a cause you choose * Conduct hands-on advocacy for the policy passion of your choice * Meet face-to-face with legislators and their staff The EPPLC program is a dynamic 12-month experience that will forever connect you with a network of peers and increase your employability in the education public policy arena.
