Dear Russ College students, Do you have a co-op or internship for spring semester? We hope you'll tell us about it, and that you'll complete the attached form to be registered for ET 1910, a free, one credit-hour course that will list your co-op/internship experience on your transcript. The Russ College provides a one credit-hour scholarship to all students who are registered for ET1910 to cover the course fee. There are no meeting times for the class. You'll complete an evaluation at the end of your work term and your co-op/internship supervisor will complete an evaluation at the end of your work term. You will also write a brief summary of what you did during your co-op/internship at the end of the summer. By being registered for the ET 1910 course, you will receive the free one credit hour scholarship and help the Russ College keep accurate statistics on how many of our students complete co-op experiences and internships during the school year. Enrollment in the course will maintain your status as a full-time student, which means your financial aid will not be impacted. You can still receive your loans as you do during other semesters if you choose to do so. If you have a housing contract with the university, enrollment in the course will get you out of the contract. Other benefits for you include: Listing on your official college transcripts to show that you worked a co-op/internship assignment; for ETM majors, the course counts towards your electives for your degree; for those hoping to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license, work experience listed on your college transcript counts toward the 4-year field work requirement to obtain the license if the work experience occurs after the completion of your sophomore year (the only way for the work experience to be listed on your college transcript is to be registered for this course). The course has no meeting times. To get credit at the end of spring semester, all you have to do is write a short two page paper on what you did during your co-op/internship assignment over the semester and complete a brief evaluation form on how well you thought the experience went. Your supervisor will also complete a short evaluation on how well you performed. Submission of those documents is all that you have to do in order to receive credit for the course. It's a quick and simple way to obtain academic credit for your work experience. If you are working as a co-op or intern for the spring semester, please submit your completed form before the end of the current fall semester. Sincerely, Dean Pidcock, M. Ed.
