Dear Russ College students,

Do you have a co-op or internship this spring? We hope you'll tell us about it, and that you'll complete the attached "course registration form" to be registered for ET 1910/2910/3910/4910, a one credit-hour course that will list your co-op/internship experience on your transcript.

There are no meeting times for the class. You'll complete an evaluation at the end of your work term and your co-op/internship supervisor will complete an evaluation at the end of your work term. You will also write a brief summary of what you did during your co-op/internship at the end of the spring semester.  It's a quick and simple way to obtain academic credit for your work experience.

Benefits of enrolling in ET 1910/2910/3910/4910

*         Financial aid main points
-      Scholarships are deferred while you're working
-      Grants are readjusted
-      Don't make loan payments because you are registered for the course
-      Can receive loans
We suggest you call Financial Aid to work out details with them and ask any questions you may have

*       As part of the Ohio Guarantee Tuition Plan, a student in an approved internship and/or co-op through his or her college may be granted additional semester(s) at his/her established cohort rate equal to the semesters s/he was enrolled in internship/co-op credit https://www.ohio.edu/guarantee/exceptions.cfm 
*       Still qualify for health insurance


*       Released from Residence Hall housing contract


*       Counts toward electives for ETM majors


*       Listed on student transcripts as "Cooperative Education Field Experience I", II, etc.  Many employers prefer to see a supervised experience on transcripts


*       Prerequisite to employment for some employers, since enrollment in such a course fits the legal requirements outlined in Ohio Revised Code Section 4141.01(B)(3)(e)(ii). These employers will contact the Office of Professional Experiences to verify enrollment. http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4141.01 
*       May count toward the requirements to obtain the Professional Engineer (PE) license.  In Ohio, as in many states, co-op and internship experience counts toward the 4-year field work requirement to obtain the PE license.  Note: only experience from the completion of the sophomore year onward applies. http://peps.ohio.gov/ 
Deadline to return the form of your choice is Friday, November 18, 2016.
