A couple years ago we were working with some folks on an AFRL (711 Human Performance Wing) research effort looking at visualization tools to improve operator situation awareness and performance. 

They are recruiting participants for the next phase of their study, and one of their test groups includes college students who are actively involved with cyber competitions. The attached flyer has more information. Please pass on to any students you think might be interested in participating.
