South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, has an immediate opening for an Electrical System Engineer. This position is responsible for directing, coordinating and overseeing activities related to maintenance, system planning, operation of distribution and transmission line facilities and to provide engineering support. Duties include but are not limited to preparing plans and studies relating to sectionalizing, over current protection, device coordination, over voltage protection, voltage improvement, power factor correction, load balancing, and system reliability; preparing written technical documents such as procedures, design criteria, specifications and reports; working closely with System Control to evaluate switching scenarios, perform load flow studies, and assist with switch order development; conducting ongoing evaluations of our system and oversees appropriate maintenance as needed. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate sound judgment with the ability to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of processes within the limitations of standard methods or procedures. The successful applicant must be able to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with the capability to effectively respond and problem solve. The position will report to the Director of Planning and Reliability and be positioned at our Lancaster office located at 720 Mill Park Drive. Qualifications include: • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronic engineering is required. • Must demonstrate proficient business literacy, planning, and computer skills. Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing. • Must maintain a valid drivers' license and good driving record. • Must have or be able to develop professional contacts with affiliated companies and customers.
