DESCRIPTION;LANGUAGE=en-US:Title: Run-Time Analysis and Security of Multi-L
anguage Systems\nAbstract:\nThe prevalence of multi-language software has
surged\, yet security defenses for such systems\nremain inadequately suppo
rted. Traditional methods like program analysis and fuzzing face\nchalleng
es in this context. In my Ph.D. research\, I proposed a suite of technique
s to fortify the\nsecurity of multi-language systems. Firstly\, I introduc
ed PolyCruise\, leveraging languageindependent\nsymbolic dependence analys
is for effective dynamic cross-language information\nflow analysis. It sup
ports diverse security applications\, enhancing vulnerability detection.\n
Addressing PolyCruise's input coverage limitation\, I introduced PolyFuzz\
, a framework for\ncomprehensive greybox fuzzing in multi-language applica
tions. PolyFuzz measures block coverage\nat the whole-system level\, gener
ates effective seeds through sensitivity analysis\, and seamlessly\nsuppor
ts various languages. Recognizing limitations for bugs in the lower softwa
re stack\,\nparticularly in language runtime systems\, my focus shifted do
wnward\, notably to Python runtime.\nPyRTFuzz introduced a two-level colla
borative methodology\, combining generation- and\nmutation-based fuzzing f
or comprehensive testing. The Slang-based approach ensures diverse\napplic
ations\, marking a significant stride in securing software systems.\nBiogr
aphy:\nWen Li\, Ph.D.\, from Washington State University\, specializes in
software engineering and security\,\nfocusing on implementing diverse tech
niques for practical security solutions in real-world\nsoftware systems. H
is Ph.D. work included software analysis and the development of effective\
nfuzzing frameworks\, successfully applied to real-world systems\, with re
search published in\nconferences like ESEC/FSE\, USENIX Security\, and CCS
. In addition\, with a decade of industrial\nexperience\, he is also an ad
ept software engineer\, specializing in embedded software design and\ndeve
lopment\, particularly in core/access networks. Coupled with ongoing resea
rch pursuits\, this\npractical expertise equips him with profound insights
into the research field and the ability to\ntraverse new domains seamless
