Volkswagen emissions scandal lecture - 11/1 What can we do to curb the emissions that are plaguing the environment? What is the future of diesel engines? Research Assistant Professor Arvind Thiruvengadam from West Virginia University - one of the researchers who broke the Volkswagen emissions scandal - will talk about the real emissions rates of light- and heavy-duty diesel vehicles, and the future research areas and engine technologies that could lead to truly lower emissions and higher efficiencies. The lecture, "Diesel Vehicle Emissions, Efficiency, and Future Pathways," will be held Tues., Nov. 1, in Baker University Center Theatre, with a pre-reception from 2:30-2:55 p.m., and the lecture at 2:55 p.m. Russ College Dean Dennis Irwin will make special closing remarks about the importance of professional engineers.
