DESCRIPTION;LANGUAGE=en-US:Title: Towards Deterministic and Reliable Real-T
ime Cyber-Physical Systems\n\nAbstract: Real-time cyber-physical systems (
CPSs) are subject to stringent Quality of Service requirements in terms of
both timing and reliability. The correct behavior of real-time CPSs depen
ds not only on their functional accuracy but also on the temporal precisio
n. Real-time CPSs have a variety of applications\, including avionics\, au
tonomous vehicles\, industrial internet-of-things (IIoT)\, etc. In this ta
lk\, I will introduce some of my recent works on the design of real-time r
esource management frameworks in real-time wireless sensor-actuator system
s (WSANs) and real-time 5G New Radio (NR) by discussing the following thre
e questions: 1) Why is real-time performance crucial to the mission-critic
al industrial applications? 2) What are the challenges in the design of de
terministic and reliable IIoT systems? 3) How do we tackle these challenge
s by developing new models\, analysis methodologies\, and scheduling algor
ithms?\n\nBio: Dr. Tianyu Zhang is a postdoc fellow in the Department of C
omputer Science and Engineering at the University of Connecticut (UConn).
Before joining UConn\, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Hong Kong
Polytechnic University. His research falls in the area of real-time cyber
-physical systems (CPSs) with a focus on designing resource management fra
meworks and developing theoretical foundations for mission-critical CPS ap
