Dear CSMS students,

Please read below on the CS5060 Computation Theory cancellation in spring'23. The CS5060 will not be offered in spring'23, unfortunately. According to the MS7260 Program Requirements and Guidelines, the CS5060 is required for the Foundation Requirement.

Because of the above, the EECS Curriculum Committee recommended that the current CSMS students as well as new students starting in the spring'23 shall be given the opportunity to proceed with the required coursework despite the fact that School cannot offer the CS5060 in the spring'23 and select one of the following options:

1. Students can substitute CS5060 with MATH 5600 Introduction to Numerical Analysis with no approval needed from the School.

2. Students can substitute CS5060 with another grad-level course at the University whose foundation is mathematical and the School Grad Committee will be asked for approval.

The newly selected course substituting the CS5060 shall be on the Program of Study approved by the advisor, the Committee, and the School by the deadline specified in the MS7260 Requirements and Guidelines before registering for the class. Thank you.

Best regards,
