Jack Ellis sends the following message: Many of our emeriti members well remember those great songs and vocal groups of the 1950's. I'm pleased to tell you the very fine Stuart's Opera House organization has booked The Four Lads for an engagement performance on Sat., Nov. 20 at 7:30 PM. There was some concern on behalf of the Stuart board there might not be enough people in our area who would remember The Four Lads and more importantly, to buy tickets and to come out for an evening of wonderful musical entertainment. I strongly suggested otherwise and they took my word for it. So, I'm now promoting it to my friends and colleagues who remember those songs of The Four Lads, such as "Standing on the Corner, Watching all the Girls Go By", "Istanbul", "Down By the Riverside", to name just a few of their big hits. The group sold millions of records and traveled the world in concert during those years. John "Bernie" Toorish, the original founder of the group, their song arranger, composer of a number of their record hits, and lead tenor, will be in Athens earlier that week and will be interviewed by David Palmer on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 9 AM on his daily morning show on WATH. Following the interview, "Bernie" will remain on the air for another hour talking about his experiences and recording session as the program host plays a number of Four Lads recordings. I invite you to join with us in Nelsonville for their live show on Sat., Nov. 20. The tickets are $15 and $20 through the Stuart's Opera House ticket office, 740-753-1924, a bargain for what should be a wonderful and nostalgic evening of musical memories.
