Interest in the program has remained strong since its inception in 1981. By the end of 2014, more than 800 students will have participated as NGS Geography Interns. We are offering a limited number of 12 week paid internships for the spring, summer, and fall of 2015. The program is designed to give students a professional learning experience through participation in various divisions of the National Geographic Society. Interns may be assigned to work in one of the many divisions within the National Geographic Society and so individual projects and assignments will vary. Most include some degree of research, writing, working in teams, and self-direction. Divisions that have hosted interns in the past include National Geographic Magazine; Maps/Cartographic; Education and Children's Media; the Research, Conservation & Exploration Group; Explorer’s Programs; National Geographic Channel Standard and Practices and others.
