St. Lawrence University seeks to fill a part time, seasonal, GPS/GIS Technician position in the Library and Information Technology division. This position provides logistical, technical, and instructional support for in-class and field research undertaken by students and faculty on and off campus. Technical assistance is needed for the installation, use, and maintenance of a variety of GPS/GIS related equipment and software. The Technician will instruct users of the equipment and assist them with collecting, downloading, and analyzing the data. The Technician will train and supervise student assistants to help with GPS/GIS related projects and maintain field equipment to ensure its functionality. The Technician assists with the GIS Program's computers, software, units, large scale plotter, and related technical and administrative duties. Position is an average of 20 hours/week and working primarily Monday through Friday. Qualifications: Associate Degree or higher with coursework in GIS/GPS or equivalent work experience. Proficiency with ESRI products including ArcGIS10, experience with GPS, experience with Trimble and Garmin Devices.
