Dear GISCorps Volunteers,

In response to the unprecedented situation with the coronavirus pandemic, the Esri Disaster Response Team has requested support from GISCorps volunteers to maintain a nationwide dataset of COVID-19 testing locations. This dataset and its associated map service will become available to the public and from a REST endpoint as part of the COVID-19 solutions Esri is providing to those who need them at no charge for six months.

In order to fulfill this request, we are looking for volunteers who can "adopt" counties (or parishes or boroughs) they are familiar with and commit to keeping testing site data up to date within that area. County assignments will be available on a first come, first served basis and the work will be done in a custom ArcGIS Online application.

To be eligible for this deployment, you must be able to follow detailed instructions and carefully research the status of COVID-19 testing locations in your assigned area. You should be comfortable working in an ArcGIS Online environment and you must be willing to join our Slack channel to get important updates and communicate with project leaders and other volunteers. This mission could continue for as long as dedicated COVID-19 testing centers are open, so you must be willing to make a commitment to maintaining your counties’ data during that time.

If you’d like to contribute to this project, please fill out this very brief Google form: https://forms.gle/oRTctG9D19TBbXM37<https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fforms.gle%2FoRTctG9D19TBbXM37&data=02%7C01%7C%7C15638258c6bc4bddd7e708d7d4ddb521%7Cf3308007477c4a70888934611817c55a%7C0%7C0%7C637211921007077064&sdata=xgWjMMBOt3JgaZhVxfwPGN9Hwmeh3Q%2F%2B14gj%2FzJz%2FTk%3D&reserved=0
>

Once you fill out that form, we’ll add you to our Slack workspace where you can ask questions, find resources, and get updates on the project. We’ll also add you to our ArcGIS Online organization. You’ll receive emails inviting you to join both, and you’ll need to do so in order to get started. You should receive your invitations to Slack and ArcGIS Online within 24 hours at the email address you enter on the Google form.

Any questions on how to sign up and help with this project can be directed to GISCorps at recruit at giscorps.org
<mailto: recruit at giscorps.org
>, but the best and fastest way to get a question answered and stay up to date on mission status and changes to workflows is to join the conversation in the #covid-19-volunteers channel in the GISCorps Slack workspace. We are there to support you! Slack works best if you use the desktop or mobile app.

At the conclusion of the mission, we’ll ask you to fill out one more Google form to report your hours and provide feedback. We’ll then send you a GISCorps certificate of appreciation and a letter documenting your contribution for GISP credit.

We look forward to working with you and thank you in advance for your efforts in this important mission!

With gratitude,
The GISCorps Core Committee
