This intern will assist in asset management, planning, natural resource projects, departmental policies and procedures. This position will be a minimum of 20 hours per week for at least 12 months. MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: * Plan, manage and implement meetings; * Create educational signage for natural resource areas; * Research and summarize park history, natural resources, and key property management information * Assist in the maintenance of park property and amenities databases; * Assist with planning, managing and implementing; * Assist with grant applications; * Staff Columbus Recreation and Parks natural resource volunteer projects as necessary; * Create, edit and proofread planning documents as necessary; * Create high-quality maps for community meetings and analysis; * Execute other duties as assigned. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Current undergraduate or graduate student in the field of natural resources management, biology, life science, ecology, sustainability, wildlife, naturalist, environmental engineering, environmental sciences, wildlands science, or conservation; * Availability of 20 hours per week for at least 12 months (August 2022 - August 2023) * Commitment to customer service; * Ability to report to multiple supervisors while managing several projects and deadlines in an organized manner; * Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary; * Communication skills: ability to effectively converse with co-workers, community members, other City Department staff, contractors, vendors and external entities; * Detail-oriented self-starter with excellent organization, writing and editing skills; * Require high level of competency in the following software: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point; * Preference for additional experience in the following software: ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign; AutoCAD Thank you!
