The GIS supports planning and project reviews in 70+ national park units throughout the Southeast, so the intern's effort will help to update and fill in gaps in the data. In order to determine the location and extent of the archeological surveys, the intern will work with a variety of sources such as GPS data, CAD data, reports, oversized maps, and field notes. The intern may also perform duties such as downloading and processing base data, creating map templates, and assisting with management of mobile GPS equipment. The intern will have access to online GIS training for special topics as needed.
