Hello MED in Computer Education and Technology Graduates:

*Graduate Orientation is Friday, Sept 2 at 1:00* pm in McCracken Hall. I
will be available for advising following this meeting in 214A McCracken if
you have an opportunity to attend the 1:00 pm meeting.

The two fall courses being offered in the Hybrid Online Masters in Computer
Education and Technology are as follows and will meet face-to-face on Sept
9, 10; Oct 7, 8; and Nov 11, 12. The face-to-face meetings are required and
most faculty deduct points for not attending. The Friday classes meet from
5:10 pm to 9:00 pm in room 217A and 217B depending on which section you are
enrolled in. The Saturday classes meet from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm in the same
rooms. We will offer two sections of the courses this fall -- one on Friday
and one on Saturday. I always suggest that you purchase the books online and
used if possible -- they will be much cheaper than the OU Bookstore.

You are required to bring a laptop with 4GB of memory, wireless access, and
software loaded onto the laptop that you plan to use this quarter. If you
are a new student, you should plan to stay 1 hour after the first class
meeting for an orientation and to ask any questions you may have.

1. *EDCT 601 Instructional Design course*, this course will be held in the
hybrid online format and offered on *Friday evening from 5-9 pm (Sept 9, Oct
7 and Nov 11 is face-to-face with remaining work online) or Saturday morning
8:30 am to 12:30 pm (Sept 10, Oct 8, Nov 12)*. The textbook is *Designing
Effective Instruction* and is *RED *in color (copyright 2011). I suggest you
purchase this book online as it is much cheaper there than at the bookstore.

2)* EDCT 531 Educational Applications of the Internet. *The course will use
the software Dreamweaver CS4 but you are welcome to use CS5 and purchase the
books in the CS5 version. Instruction in the lab will be on CS4. this
course will be held in the hybrid online format and offered on *Friday
evening from 5-9 pm (Sept 9, Oct 7 and Nov 11 is face-to-face with remaining
