Dear Doctoral Graduate Students: Welcome to the Instructional Technology Program at Ohio University. We are delighted that you will be with us on the journey as a researcher and intellectual in the field of instructional technology. The following courses will be offered this fall for our PhD students: EDCT 7012: Advanced Instructional Design (Moore) EDCT 7031: Theory and Practice in Adult Learning (Franklin) EDCT 5012: Technology Applications in Education: Open Source Tools for Education (Dikkers) – Blended online course which meets 3 times face-to-face with remaining work online. We also suggest that you examine the offerings in EDRE, EDCS and other programs in the Patton College offerings to create a selection of courses for your program of study. If you do not have a research background or did not take an introduction to research in your Master's program, I suggest you enroll in EDRE 5010 which is an introduction to research. It is a good idea to meet with your advisor during the first week of the semester to make sure that you have made quality selections to complete your program in a timely manner. If you do not have experience in Instructional Design, you may want to take the following courses before taking the Advanced Instructional Design, please read the information below and contact Jamie Smith ( jamie.l.smith.3 at gmail.com ). A limited number of Professional Instructional Design Certificate courses can be transferred into the PhD program. Advisor permission must be obtained before enrolling in these completely online courses. Each course in the PID-C is 3 credit hours. *Professional Instructional Design Certificate Program (PID-C)* Fall Course Offerings: EDCT 6030: Principles of Instructional Design (Moore) EDCT 6031: Advanced Topics in Instructional Design (Smith) Spring Courses: EDCT 6032: Adult Learning in Online Environments EDCT 6901(a-d): Special Topics Workshop - Up to four 1-hr. workshops offered (participants elect 2 to fulfill requirement) The PID-Certificate courses are not currently listed in the course offerings< http://webapps.ohio.edu/classes/results.htm?selectedTerm=2013FALL&locations=ATHN&_locations=on&_locations=on&_locations=on&_locations=on&_locations=on&_locations=on&_locations=on&_locations=on&locations=ONLINE&_locations=on&_locations=on&_locations=on&includeOnline=true&subject=Education+-+Computer+Technology+%28EDCT%29&courseNumber=&className=&courseTopic=&courseLevel=A&status=A&_includeCanceled=on&generalEducationCode2=ALL&beginDate=&endDate=&instructor=&courseDescription=&creditHours=&classStartTime=&classEndTime=&_classDay=on&_classDay=on&_classDay=on&_classDay=on&_classDay=on&_classDay=on&_classDay=on&gradeEligibilityCode=GE0&building=&room=&resultsPerPage=50&searchType=basic >, but should be posted soon in the "Online (All Locations)" tab - all certificate courses require permission to enroll (i.e., students must be pink slipped in).
