Graduates: Important Information. Read Below! Dr. Franklin Dear Patton College of Education Graduates, I am writing regarding the *English Language Improvement Program (ELIP)* graduate courses for Spring Semester. In Spring, the course *Oral Communication for the Graduate Researcher and Presenter (ELIP 5320)* is popular, as it supports students through their oral defense, giving a job talk or conference presentation, or performing in an interview. There are courses on writing, reading, and speaking/pronunciation as well. We are also offering an *Online Writing class (ELIP 5140, #1380)*, for students who are not on campus full-time or whose busy schedules make an online course a more realistic option. Both American and international graduate students can take ELIP courses to assist them in developing their writing and presentation/oral skills. ELIP assignments are discipline specific, and the courses provide a significant amount of one-on-one attention--students work on their own academic assignments. The courses are for-credit and do not affect GPA as long as credit is attained. The *ELIP Graduate Writing Center* has walk-in hours for all Graduate Students wanting assistance with their writing. Spring Semester hours are *T Th 6:00 - 9:00 pm, **Gordy Hall.* If you would like more detailed course information, please see the attachment or contact me personally. The courses and times are listed below. Thank you, Dawn Bikowski, PhD Director, English Language Improvement Program Linguistics Department 593-0201 bikowski at ohio.edu ** * * * * *Spring Semester 2012-13* * Writing for Research—Thesis/Dissertation (ELIP 5160), 2-3 credit hours * Tuesday 5:15-7:05pm (Class #1381), Gordy 203 * Science Section ** Writing for Research—Thesis/Dissertation (ELIP 5160), 2-3 credit hours * Wednesday 5:15-7:05pm (Class #1382), Gordy 203 * Oral Communication for the Graduate Researcher and Presenter (ELIP 5320), 2-3 credit hours * Tuesday 3:05-4:55pm (Class #1386), Gordy 205 *Academic Writing in Graduate Studies (ELIP 5140),** 2-3 credit hours* Monday 5:15-7:05pm (Class #1379), Gordy 203 *Online Course: Academic Writing in Graduate Studies (ELIP 5140),** 2-3 credit hours* Course will be online, but Dr. Dawn Bikowski is on the Athens campus and will also meet with available students in-person as needed.
