Right now, MIT App Inventor is used by about 88,000 users each week, has more than 2M total registered users, and is used in almost every country you can name (more than 195 countries total). This new position, Education and Business Development Coordinator will have significant responsibility for both educational materials development, and for relationship management – helping to build the MIT App Inventor community, brand, and work toward development of a sustainable funding model. Job Description EDUCATION AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR, MIT APP INVENTOR, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), to advance the educational goals of the MIT App Inventor. Will work in collaboration with the MIT App Inventor team and serve as the main point of contact for the MIT App Inventor master trainers; work with a national foundation to promote and coordinate a contest for middle and high school teams; establish new and carry forward existing collaborative relationships; develop promotional, educational, and training materials; organize volunteer and training efforts; conduct presentations; and manage website access for members. Job Requirements REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in education, computer science, or related area; a minimum of five years’ relevant work experience, preferably in computer science and/or education; an interest in learning about computer science, education, and educational technology; excellent presentation, writing, and interpersonal skills; strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills; working knowledge of the Internet and social media; and the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment. Formal or self-taught computer programming experience preferred. Knowledge of MIT a plus, as is a strong network of contacts in related areas (education and/or national level foundations). Experience working with students and/or teachers on educational technology initiatives desired. Experience with MIT App Inventor in an educational context helpful. Must be able to transport training materials and computer equipment weighing up to twenty-five pounds to various events. Job #11509 Will be required to attend evening and/or weekend meetings/events and to travel domestically, and possibly internationally, up to 20% of the time.
