*MWERA Conference Theme 2018: * *Conducting Educational Research that Matters* How can we make educational research matter even more? Schools and universities are challenged by a host of social justice issues. The news is rife with stories about culture clashes, political ideologues, and divisive language. The struggle to negotiate, resist, challenge, and/or reaffirm particular educational practices is at the heart of educational research. Unfortunately, educational research is commonly accessed solely by those in the field of education, and often only at the level of academia. It can feel like educational researchers read and write for each other, and that changes in schooling move at a very slow pace. How might we more effectively engage in and utilize educational research that addresses injustices in education? How might we better negotiate inequalities during the research process? How might we attend to such issues as power and representation? How might we more strategically and holistically distribute findings? Come to the MWERA conference in Cincinnati in 2018 to explore these issues and more! The *Call for Proposals* can be found on the website: http://www.mwera.org/pdf-files/MWERA_2018_Call_for_Proposals.pdf Please consider submitting a proposal, signing up to be a reviewer and discussant, and planning your trip to Cincinnati. Also, please share the link as much as possible! You will find this video about Cincinnati on the website, which you can share with your colleagues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MZjVU5mipM Lastly, it might help to highlight the division options and our session possibilities. For example, encourage graduate students and others to try the research in progress Roundtables (new this year). Posters are a great option for graduate students and new faculty as well. Best Practices will appeal to K-12 teachers and administrators because there is no paper required. Panels and symposiums have been combined. The due date is May 1st, so March and April are key for recruitment. Spread the word. Come join us in Cincinnati in 2018!
