This is sad news indeed. I was unaware. Thanks for sharing it, Willem.

Scott was an institution here in EEB and OCEES, as well as OU and the naturalist community here in SE Ohio. And Scott was the purist naturalist that I've known, with an encyclopedic knowledge of local fauna and flora. He was a tremendous help to me when I first came here in 1995 and has been something a mentor to me ever since. He's been very generous with his time and resources...and many of his deceased pets. Just today, minutes before we got this news, DJ Morgan and I were looking at the skull of Muhammed, a pet Uromastyx lizard, the carcass of which Scott provided to us upon its passing and which we CT scanned, dissected, and skeletonized.

I hope that there will be some kind of memorial service. If anyone hears of anything or additional news, please share them here.

Dear friends and Colleagues,

It is with great sadness that I convey the news our colleague Scott Moody has passed away. I have no details at this time but will forward information as it becomes available.

Scott was a member of OCEES from the very beginning and a staunch advocate for all things evolution and the science that supports it. Although he had officially retired, he remained active attending Ecolunch, seminars, and most importantly tirelessly curating the Biological Sciences vertebrate collection. Scott also was a tremendous resource for all the herpetologists in the department providing information and locations where to find different herps in Ohio. His knowledge also served OH-DNR helping to preserve rare and endangered reptiles and amphibians throughout the state. Scott was lifelong teacher who was well liked by his students and had a penchant for teaching interpretation and critical thinking skills. His positive contributions to OCEES students and faculty will long be remembered.

Rest peacefully Dr. Moody.

Sincerely,
Willem
