<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">Noted journalists and alums Tom Hodson and Andy Alexander are again teaching a 2 credit Interacting with the Media class Mondays 3-5 that is designed to meet the student demand for more science communications
training. Through a focus on interacting with the media, they help the students build practical skills communicating about their current research. It is available for undergrads and grads via ES 4900/5900. We�ve had CHEM, PBIO, BIOS, Media Arts etc students
in there in addition to MSES and MPA. A past winner of 3 Minute Thesis competition credited the class with giving him the idea that made his presentation so effective. More details below. I also included an elective on Global Water Resources that we don�t
teach often in case folks are interested in that course as well.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">Being able to interact with the media can be key to influencing public policy, explaining research findings and obtaining research funding. This course will provide a foundation of knowledge regarding the history
and state of the media, and it will help STEM professionals develop the kinds of practical skills that are essential for public affairs leaders to effectively deal with the media and communicate their messages effectively.</span></p>
