EDAD 6020 Answer to Question #2 I would have to describe South Elementary as a good blend of professional and loosely coupled. Evidence of the professional structure is the way our principal involves teachers and/or grade level teams in decision making that affects them. She always comes to us when a decision needs to be made about our kids to get our opinion and insight. More evidence of professional structure would be although there are rules and procedures set to guide us, situations and circumstances are taken into consideration. I say that South is also loosely coupled within the organization that is Vinton County Local Schools. Each building is ran differently, specially the three elementary buildings. District administration allows building administration the flexibility to do what they can for the success of students. There is a basic framework that is the same between the elementary schools (mainly content and curriculum) but then each building has freedoms to meet the needs of its community and families. South Elementary is anything but chaotic (and boy am I ever so glad for that). In my seven years working full time there, under the direction of two different administrators, I have never know of things to be contradictive or inconsistent. I think a chaotic structure would be very detrimental to the success of students and for the retention of effective teachers. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
