Brittany Holsinger, Crystal Middleton, Angelica Gamon How to establish a culture of individual and collective accountability among students, teachers, and other staff by developing and implementing an accountability system grounded in standards-based teaching and learning. In order to establish a culture of accountability - Set your expectations - Lead by example. If you want your collective adherence to work, it starts with leading by example. - Step 1- Have a conversation with all staff, students, and parents. There can be a parent support groups available. Meet with the parents, set clear expectations. Consistency is key. Step 2- Create a uniform system of accountability (I can, you can, we can). It is the collective adherence to establishing a culture of accountability. - If possible, hire people who will take responsibility. - Clear measurable goals. Make sure there is adequate professional development for both administration and teachers. - You need to communicate with students and each other. - Measure and review your results. Address your dificiences. Follow up with the appropriate professional development. - Keep in mind, that when implementing and establishing a culture of accountability. Set back occur as any newly established system. - Support staff can continue to encourage positive behaviors.
