HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHARLESTON WV
359 AM EDT FRI APR 16 2010

THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS LATE THIS AFTERNOON
AND EVENING. THE MAIN THREAT WILL BE DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AND SMALL HAIL.

...SYNOPSIS...

DRY WEATHER AND GUSTY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL THROUGH THIS
AFTERNOON...AHEAD OF THE APPROACHING COLD FRONT. THE FRONT BRINGS A
GOOD CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS SPREADING FROM NORTH TO
SOUTH BY LATE AFTERNOON INTO THE NIGHT.

WINDS TURN NORTHWESTERLY...USHERING IN A COOLER AIRMASS UNDER HIGH
PRESSURE THAT WILL DOMINATE INTO MID WEEK.

.NEAR TERM IMPACTS /THROUGH TONIGHT/...

WIND GUSTS OF 20 TO 30 MPH COULD CAUSE POWER FLUCTUATIONS OR
BLOW AROUND LIGHT OBJECTS THIS AFTERNOON.

IN ADDITION...THE RECENT LACK OF RAINFALL LEADING TO DRY
FUELS...THE COMBINATION OF WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL
CREATE AN ENHANCED FIRE DANGER THIS AFTERNOON. ALL OUTDOOR BURNING
SHOULD BE AVOIDED.

THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP ALONG THE COLD FRONT BY LATE AFTERNOON
AND EVENING. THE STRONGEST THUNDERSTORMS COULD PRODUCE WIND GUSTS
CAPABLE OF TREE DAMAGE...POWER FLUCTUATIONS...AND PERHAPS BLOCKING
OF ROADS FROM DEBRIS...MAINLY ACROSS NORTHERN WEST VIRGINIA AND
PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST OHIO.
