HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHARLESTON WV
511 AM EDT THU AUG 21 2014

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TODAY INTO TONIGHT WILL PRODUCE LOCALLY
HEAVY RAINFALL. WHILE THE TIMING AND EXTENT OF THE PRECIPITATION
IS UNCERTAIN...THE ENVIRONMENT REMAINS VERY MOISTURE LADEN...AND
THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK FOR EXCESSIVE RAINFALL BY TONIGHT. THIS MEANS
THERE CAN BE ENOUGH RUNOFF TO PRODUCE FLASH FLOODING...ESPECIALLY
IF DOWNPOURS BECOME REPETITIVE OVER THE SAME SMALL STREAM BASIN.
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH WOULD BE NEEDED IF CONFIDENCE IN TIMING
AND LOCATION INCREASES.

ADDITIONAL ROUNDS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED INTO
THE WEEKEND...WITH HEAVY DOWNPOURS. IF LARGER CLUSTERS OF SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS OCCUR...STRONG RISES CAN OCCUR EVEN ON
MAIN STEM STREAMS.

...DISCUSSION...

A NEARLY STATIONARY FRONT OVER THE LOWER OHIO VALLEY...WILL BRING WET
WEATHER AGAIN TODAY INTO TONIGHT. SOME OF THE RAIN WILL BE LOCALLY
HEAVY...AS THE ENVIRONMENT REMAINS RATHER WARM AND HUMID. WARM...AND
UNSETTLED WEATHER WILL REMAIN ACROSS THE REGION THROUGH THE REMAINDER
OF THE WEEK. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY DOWNPOURS ARE
EXPECTED. LOCALIZED WATER ISSUES COULD OCCUR OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL
DAYS...PARTICULARLY IF REPEATED ROUNDS OF RAIN HIT AN AREA.
THE WEATHER WILL BECOME SOMEWHAT DRIER TOWARDS WEEKS END...
BUT THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL CONTINUE.
