HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHARLESTON WV
443 AM EDT WED MAY 14 2014

THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON
INTO TONIGHT...WITH STRONG WINDS AND LARGE HAIL.

Maps, Graphics, Technical Discussion: http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/
THERE IS ALSO THE POSSIBILITY OF HEAVY RAIN THIS AFTERNOON AND
OVERNIGHT TONIGHT IN THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. IF THE THREAT
OF FLOODING INCREASES...A FLASH FLOOD WATCH WOULD BE POSTED.

THAT POSSIBILITY OF HIGH WATER ON STREAMS...CREEKS...AND RIVERS
LINGERS ON THURSDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHT.

..DISCUSSION...

A FRONT WAS BECOMING NEARLY STATIONARY THIS MORNING ACROSS EASTERN
OHIO ON SOUTHWEST...INTO KENTUCKY AND CENTRAL TENNESSEE. AS A
RESULT...WE SHOULD REMAIN IN THE WARM AND HUMID AIR TODAY. SO A SHOWER
OR THUNDERS TORM COULD FORM JUST ABOUT ANYTIME. HOWEVER... THE BEST
CHANCE IS FIGURED FOR THIS AFTERNOON IN SOUTHEAST OHIO AND NORTHEAST
KENTUCKY. A FEW THUNDERSTORMS COULD BECOME QUITE STRONG LATE TODAY
INTO THIS EVENING OVER THE MIDDLE OHIO VALLEY. A LOW PRESSURE WAVE
WILL RIPPLE NORTH LATE TONIGHT ALONG THE FRONT...REACHING NORTHERN
OHIO BY DAWN THURSDAY. THIS SHOULD INCREASE THE AREAL COVERAGE OF THE
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS LATE TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY MORNING. A STRONG
COLD FRONT PASSES THROUGH THURSDAY...WITH SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECTED...ESPECIALLY WITH ANY THUNDERSTORMS. SHOWERS
WILL LINGER OVER THE WEST VIRGINIA MOUNTAINS THURSDAY NIGHT. HOWEVER A
PIECE OF UPPER LEVEL ENERGY WILL BRING A RENEWED CHANCE OF SHOWERS ON
FRIDAY ...BUT THE MAIN THEME WILL BE COOLER TEMPERATURES. A DEEP UPPER
TROUGH WILL PUSH A SECONDARY COLD FRONT ACROSS THE AREA FRIDAY NIGHT
INTO SATURDAY...ACCOMPANIED BY SCATTERED SHOWERS. HIGH PRESSURE WILL
BUILD IN LATER SATURDAY AND CONTINUE INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK WITH DRIER
CONDITIONS. LOOK FOR TEMPERATURES TO AVERAGE BELOW NORMAL THIS
WEEKEND.
