URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Charleston WV 339 PM EDT Mon Mar 19 2018 ...Another late season wet snowfall likely... .A complex late season winter storm will affect the region tonight through Wednesday evening. Mixed wintry precipitation will begin in the mountains tonight with light snow and freezing rain expected. Heavier precipitation will then move into the region late Tuesday. While this precipitation will begin as rain, it will transition to heavy wet snow Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. This transition will take place first in the West Virginia mountains early Tuesday evening, and then progress into the lowlands by Wednesday morning. Snow is expected to taper off from west to east Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening. There remains considerable uncertainty with rain to snow changeover times and forecast snowfall amounts. However, the snow that falls will be heavy and wet and may cause power outages where the heaviest snow falls.
