Showers and storms expected across parts of the region again today, with localized flash flooding possible. The remnants of Subtropical Storm Alberto passes west of our region through the middle of the week. Expect showers and storms across the area, with heavy downpours and potential flash flooding. Additional showers and storms are expected with an upper level system through the end of the week. .SHORT TERM TECHNICAL DISCUSSION .TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/... .As of 350 AM Monday... What is left of Alberto will track northward and west of the Tuesday through Wednesday. Although the system tracks west of the area, very moist air still advects into the region. Latest 00Z GEFS shows PWAT anomaly of 3 to 4 standard deviations, with values near 2 inches on Wednesday. Forecast soundings are strongly suggesting deep moist convection will be possible with efficient warm rain processes. Confidence in where and how widespread convection may be is still quite low at this time, but can`t ignore these favorable ingredients increasing flash flooding potential through the middle of the week. At this time, will introduce the flood threat to the HWO...especially with the wet antecedent conditions across parts of the region already. ===================================================================== The "StormFlood" Listserv is a regional preparedness and planning partnership including Ohio University Risk Management and Safety. http://www.ohio.edu/riskandsafety/ Affiliated web services: Southeast Ohio Flood Potential Monitoring page: http://seorf.ohiou.edu/xx073/floodprep.html Athens Co.
