All graduate applications must be submitted electronically through the Graduate College. You will be prompted to first select the term for which you wish to apply. Then select “Graduate Degree Application.”
Generally, students that reside outside of the United States are not eligible to enroll in an OHIO Online program. Additionally, Ohio University is unable to provide immigration support to international students regardless of where they reside. If you would like to discuss your specific situation in order to determine eligibility, please reach out to an OHIO Online enrollment advisor before applying.
Admissions Requirements
Applications for the online M.A. program must be submitted electronically to the Graduate College.
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or equivalent with a record of substantial coursework in English language and literature.
- Two letters of recommendationfrom professional colleagues or former professors.
- A writing sample(4-12 pages that reflects the applicant’s best academic or scholarly work; this should be a critical or scholarly work, not creative writing).
- A resumedetailing the applicant’s professional experience.
- A one-page statement of purpose, outlining the applicant’s educational background, interests, and goals and the ways Ohio University’s program will help the applicant foster and implement the plan.
- Official Transcripts of all academic work must be submitted with the online application.
- English Proficiency: Please review information about Ohio University’s English Language Proficiency requirements .
- A $50 application fee is associated with the submission of your application for this program.
